WDNT Try-Out Information for Players and Coaches

The 2010 Women's Division National Tournament (WDNT) will be held from May 29-30 at Cedar Lane Park in Bel Air, Md., just north of Baltimore. The Schoolgirls Division  is for players 9-11th grade (rising seniors).  This tournament dates back to the 1930s. Nearly 50 teams compete in this division and the event has been become one of the marquee college recruiting events in the country. Players must try out on March 27th to participate.  This is a great opportunity to play against the best of other chapters and to be scouted by NCAA Division I, II, and III lacrosse coaches.  In addition, we will be fortunate to see NCAA D-I Semi-Final Games.
 
When:  Saturday, March 27th , 8:30am-12pm AND 3:30pm-6:30pm
******YOU MUST ATTEND BOTH SESSIONS TO MAKE THE TEAM******
 
Where:  North side of Cochise Elementary School
84th St. and Mountain View Roads
8625 E. Mountain View Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85258

 
Registration Information:  THIS IS A TWO-PART PROCESS

1) Each player will be responsible for registering on-line with US Lacrosse at:
  •  Click HERE to register
  • Select- Southwest: Arizona in the drop down menu
  • You will need the following information when registering:
  • Your current USL Membership number and expiration date
  • Your High School Coaches current USL Membership number, expiration date and e-mail address.
  • All players and their coaches MUST have current memberships (as of April 1, 2010 for coaches) to apply and remain current for players through May 30, 2010
2)     Make payment on-line at: www.azgl.com
  • Southwest Heat Tryouts are $45 per player prior to Sunday March 21st
  • Late registration from March 22nd- March 26th will be $50
***YOU MUST BE REGISTERED AND PAID BY MARCH 26th *** NO WALK ON’s ALLOWED***
              
Practice Game & Social Events:
·         Monday March 29th- Game vs. Bainbridge, Washington (7-8pm @Reach 11)
·         Friday May 7th  watch the WDIA National Championship Semi-Final Games, 6PM & 8PM
·         Saturday May 8th Volunteer Coach for Youth Clinic
·         Tuesday May 25th Team Dinner

Assistance Needed for WDNT Try-Outs:

Coaches and individuals interested in being a selector for the Women's Division National Tournament Team should complete the attached online form:

Try-out Volunteers:
In addition to the selectors, there is also a need for volunteers that would be willing to run stations so the selectors can just focus on selecting the girls.  However, parents of current players participating in tryouts are not allowed to be on the field during this time.

USL Scholarships and Grants

2010 USL Camp Scholarship Programs:

Want to brush up on your game? Summertime means lacrosse camp time. The Camp Scholarship Program provides educational lacrosse opportunities for children between the ages of 6-18, made possible through generous tuition waivers by camp directors across the country. Since the inception of this program, over 900 children have attended camps through spots donated by camp directors nationwide.

Important Dates:
Feb 15 - Applications Available Online
Apr 23rd - Deadline for Application Submission
May 24 - Notification Letters Sent to Applicants

2010 USL Equipment Grants:


Interested in starting a lacrosse program but unable to fund it? The US Lacrosse Equipment Grant may be just the answer you’re looking for. Grants can include a full team’s worth of equipment (sticks and protective gear) and are awarded to programs within their first year of operation. Applicant programs must demonstrate a financial need and priority is given to those residing in a state or region where lacrosse opportunities are currently limited or absent.

Important Dates:
April 16 - Applications Available Online
June 16 - Deadline for Application Submission
August 2010 - Notification Letters Sent to Applicants
January 2011 - Equipment Shipped to Programs

US Lacrosse - 2009 Participation Survey Results

National lacrosse participation increased 8.4 percent in 2009, according to research by US Lacrosse for its annual participation report. There were 568,021 lacrosse players that were members of organized teams across the country in 2009, from the youth level all the way on up through the professional ranks.
